For the second time, DC Co-founder and Rally Team member, Ken Block has taken the win at Rally New York! Taking place in the southern Catskill Mountains of New York, Ken dominated the rally, following up his win last year at the same event.
Rally New York takes place entirely on tarmac--not a very typical road surface for US-rallies. The event also isn't a part of the Rally America National Championship circuit. But Ken likes to do it and other unique rallies anyways, using them as an opportunity to get experience driving in different conditions (the more time and practice behind the wheel of a rally car, the better).
It just so happens that Ken is really good at tarmac rallies. Maybe it's the Gymkhana practice. In just his second all-tarmac rally ever, he finished 3 minutes ahead of 2nd place, and won 18 of 23 stages.
About the weekend, Ken said, "This was only my second tarmac event and I think my experience here last year really helped. We drove a clean and consistent rally and our Subaru was perfect as usual, so we were able to push when we wanted to. It all paid off with a great win."
Next up for Ken: the Olympus Rally, round 3 of the 2009 Rally America National Championship. Tune in!
