Why did DC make a minisite featuring loads of DiRT 2 bonus videos, photos, and information? Because Ken Block, Travis Pastrana and Dave Mirra from the DC Rally Team are all featured in the game, which many are calling more similar to real rally car racing than any other driving game in history.
Additionally, Ken stepped up to work with Codemasters by acting as Technical Consultant on DiRT 2, sharing his passion and knowledge to help shape the series. Ken took over the DiRT project as consultant for the late Colin McRae, one of rally car racing’s all time greats, after Colin’s tragic passing in 2007. Colin was one of the original visionaries of the DiRT franchise, and shaped it into the best series of driving games out there.
Paying tribute Ken Block said, “It’s so amazing to have DC become a part of this incredible franchise that Colin helped build. I have so much respect for Colin, and I’m humbled to carry on with the work he’s done with the video game series. In respect to rally, this is one of the greatest honors for DC Auto and for me personally.”
DC has also created a special version of the Pro_Spec 1.0 driving shoe to celebrate the release of DiRT 2. Loaded with performance DC technologies like DGT™, Drop-In Cushion System™, and Impact Gel™, the shoe features the DiRT 2 logo on the strap and has been colored up using the graphic package from Ken’s competition rally car (with a #43 stamped on the collar as a last touch). Full grain nubuck and leather complete the driving shoe…. Each pair is number 1-500.
