Riding on the success of the first Gymkhana Practice video that grabbed the attention of over 20 million viewers worldwide, DC and Ken Block are producing another gymkhana video. Operating under the project name “Gymkhana TWO,” the video has a target launch date of June 1, 2009. Leading up to the launch of the video, DC will release several teaser videos and behind the scenes photos, exclusive interviews, appearance information, upcoming event details and contests in a new blog section on its website – www.dcshoes.com/auto.
Block, who is a co-founder of DC leading the brand since 1994, is also a member of the DC Rally Team, and is currently working hard to develop the project. Details are still on lock, but the latest gymkhana video will feature a new location, new car, all new footage, and be filled with lots of surprises.
The first pre-release video highlights some of the details of Block’s new car. The 2008 Subaru STi was custom built by Crawford Performance to the unique specifications of Block. Created specifically for this new gymkhana video project, Crawford has custom built this new car to the unique driving conditions of gymkhana. The car features high-power performance modifications, tons of custom and unique parts, lots of carbon fiber, and has a custom graphics package and body mods for a unique and striking look.
Block got involved in gymkhana a few years ago as a way to get more time behind the wheel of rally-related race cars. In his original Gymkhana Practice video released last November, he took traditional gymkhana to the next level, adding buildings, barriers, and, perhaps most insane, donuts around a moving Segway.
“The first gymkhana video was a lot of fun to make and surprised everyone with its viral success,” said Block. “Although it will be tough to one up a guy on a moving Segway, I am going to do my best – I have a couple of surprises lined up. If everything goes as planned, the unique location and obstacles should be pretty amazing.”
As noted, the first of several pre-release videos is now live in a special DC web section at www.dcshoes.com/auto. It features sneak peek details of the new highly modified Subaru STi prepared especially for Block.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting project in the very near future.
